Tony was a great guide, good-humoured and he gave us various interesting snippets about the landscape.
We climbed Mulloughmore Hill which was demanding enough.
It is truly majestic and we felt a great sense of achievement.
A great day out!

Just a few words on behalf of the Tuesday Walking Group to thank you Tony for leading our walk in the Burren.
Although the weather on that day was a little wet to say the least, we all were amazed at the flora and the remarkable unique landscape of the limestone pavements on the walk up to Mullaghmore. Your knowledge of the area was extensive and you were able to impart this information with enthusiasm so that it was easily understood.
It was a memorable occasion for our group and set the seal on what was a very enjoyable holiday.

I hillwalk in the Burren from time to time but this was the first occasion I took a guided tour. Tony opened our eyes to the Burren and its flora. He helped us feel its beauty and not just admire the scenery. I brought my teenage daughter along with us and she surprised us all by how much she enjoyed the walk – she now wants a pair of hillwalking boots! Tony is a gifted tour guide and the lines of poetry further enhanced a beautiful day.

I looked forward to my first walk in the Burren having returned to Clare after many years abroad. I was delighted with the guided walk with Tony. I loved the legends of St. Colman, the poetry at various points and the snippets of archaeology as we walked along. The highlight for me was St. Colman’s church and spring in the verdant, ancient “bower” hidden away near the top of a cliff. It was amazing to scoop up and sip the fresh water and to sprinkle it over myself and others, as serious as myself! Tony lightened the experience with humour and I returned refreshed. I forgot to get the names of the authors of those so appropriate poems. But that’s for next time!

We very much enjoyed our outing in the Burren and meeting you. We hope you have a wonderful summer season and keep up the good work informing the visitors about the fragility, history and beauty of the Burren.

I really enjoyed the walk and I learned an immense amount.

What I really enjoyed was the way that Tony caught something of the ‘spirit’ of the Burren in the way he talked and the way in which he linked the literature and the landscape.

One of our most memorable experiences was a walk in the Burren National park guided by Tony Kirby. Without him we probably wouldn’t have entered the park (there are no tourist services and we wouldn’t have known where to go), and it would have been a shame–it is spectacular. Tony is passionate about this special place and very informative. The fact that he also knows his Irish poets was a definite plus for me! He was generous with his time and generous in answering individual questions.

The guided tour with Tony was the highlight and an unforgettable part of our visit to Ireland. Tony possesses an incredible knowledge of all aspects of the Burren including flora, fauna, geology, archeology and ecology. His style of presentation is informative, entertaining and easy to understand for non-native speakers.Tony’s enthusiasm about the Burren is infectious. We would highly recommend Tony‘s walking tours of the Burren. Thanks again from Annette, Andrea, Birgit, Gabi and Josiane.

I just wanted to let you know that all of us have now arrived home safely after a wonderful holiday in Ireland. Your tour with our group in the Burren was a highlight of the vacation, and we want to thank you again for sharing all your knowledge with us.

I wanted to drop a note to say a hearty thank you for a most wonderful time touring the Burren. You certainly conveyed the uniqueness of this most unusual place, how precious the bio-diversity is and how powerfully human interaction has shaped its present day appearance. Candace and I also deeply felt the messages contained in your poetry recitations. These hours were one of the highlights of a most happy visit to Ireland.
